In connection with its tenth anniversary the Austrian scientific project ChEck iT, jointly with the European Union ‘Democracy, cities and narcotics’ project organized on 19 November 2007 in Vienna a conference on the use of drugs at amusement places. During the past 10 years ChEck iT has been at the root of many international congresses and symposia where a number of international experts on the problems of addiction can meet.

ReDUse_07 was organized to point at the latest trends in the ways of using narcotic substances, the specific possibilities for consultations and therapy of the new target groups of addicts. Stress was placed on the use of cannabis and cocaine as their increased consumption creates new challenges to the system of treatment. Together with this ReDUse_07 provided an opportunity to present a number of projects and programmes of various European countries in connection with the prevention of drugs use at the places for entertainment.

The conference was attended by international specialists on the problems of drug addictions, as well as by representatives of a number of youth and other institutions related to these problems, such as therapeutists, psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, teachers, medical nurses. Participants on the part of Bulgaria were the experts from the National Focal Point on Drugs and Drug Addictions Raina Ilieva and Alexander Panayotov.
