On 22 November 2007 at 10:00 CET a presentation took place at the European Parliament in Brussels of the Annual Report on the status of the problem with narcotics in Europe for 2007. It was prepared by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). To stick to the tradition, at the very same time the Report was also launched in the greater part of the countries of the European Union, as well as in Norway, Turkey and Croatia.
Within the framework of this event the Bulgarian National Focal Point on Drugs and Drug Addictions and the National Center on Drug Addictions organized the III-rd Annual Expert Meeting 2007 on the theme: ‘Facts and trends in the distribution and use of drugs in Europe and Bulgaria’.
The EU Annual Report and current data on Bulgaria for 2006 on the problems of drugs and drug addictions were presented at the event. Invited to take part were experts from all interested institutions, non-governmental organizations and journalists.
The European Report was presented by Mr. Roumen Sedefov, Manager of the ‘Activity connected with new drugs’ unit at the ‘Epidemiology, crime and markets’ stream of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). Mr. Momchil Vassilev, Director of the National Focal Point on Drugs and Drug Addictions presented topical data and trends in relation to drugs in Bulgaria.
